Back to the Word is the product of a special calling the Lord put upon the heart of Pastor Eddie Hughes in 1995.

In much the same way the prophet Jeremiah was commissioned to proclaim God’s Word and root out, pull down, destroy, throw down... and then build and plant (Jeremiah 1:9-10) ministers of the Word today, who are called to build the House of God, and plant the seeds of Truth in His Kingdom, must be prepared to first root out, pull down, throw down, and destroy the life-choking vines of religious fables, vain tradition, and pop Theology.

In repeated encounters with religious leaders of His day, Jesus constantly assaulted vain, unscriptural doctrine with the Word of God. This He did publicly. And though today He would be labeled intolerant, His motive was pure love, and His harsh words to the Pharisees were absolutely necessary, for the deliverance of God’s people from spiritual bondage.

Superfluous, shallow nonsense, as well as downright error, being presented as Christian doctrine, is not something that should be tolerated. It severely corrodes the faith, stability, and spiritual strength of even the most sincerely motivated Christian. It causes strife within the body of Christ. And it preys upon the biblically ignorant and unlearned.

Pastor Eddie’s heartfelt desire is to challenge what he calls pop Theology, with clear, line-upon-line teaching of the Word, and bring the reader to the point where he or she can fully see and understand God’s Truth on the subject. Whether the topic is eternal security or end-time prophecy; the gifts of the Spirit or church government; the Book of Job or Paul’s Epistles...most who have read or heard Eddie Hughes’ teaching are saying that finally, their nagging questions are being answered, and clouds of confusion have made way for knowledge and understanding of the Bible.
